A headline last week read, “Pie Is The New Cupcake!”.
Well, duh, pie is pie and cupcakes are…ah, er, cake.
Cupcakes were/are trendy, big business, and booming.
Now, all the food gurus say the era of the cupcake is over.
Out of style!
On the wane!!
Gone the way of the Seven Layer Salad…which by the way, was surpassed only by Disco as the best thing to come out of the 1970s!
They’re saying the Cupcake’s time is UP!
I’d like to weigh in on this.
When did any dessert go out of style?
Pie has always been pie, Cupcakes have always been cupcakes, and, I know this is bold, but cookies have always been cookies.
Pie might be popular right now – and if it is more popular than it has been, which I frankly think is impossible, it’s only because of the food mavens’ evil machinations.
Frankly, I think the pie people are just pissed that the cupcakers are getting all the press.
The pie people want in on the action!
And rightly so. Cupcakes are fine, but Pie!!! Yowzah!
Who doesn’t love pie?
The cupcake v. pie battle is a scandal! It’s a scam! It’s a fraud, it’s a travesty.
The best part of a cupcake is the icing!
I’ve always been a pie person. The flakey crust, the buttery taste, the delicious filling!
What’s not to love?
I love Peanut Butter Pie, Strawberry Pie from Frisch’s, Apple Pie – buttered and steamed – from the Waffle House…seriously people, it’s AWESOME!!, Pumpkin Pie, Pecan Pie, Blueberry Pie, Lemon Pie, Banana Cream Pie, Cranberry Pie, Chicken Pot Pie, Chocolate Pie, Key Lime Pie, Kool-Aid Pie, Mississippi Mud Pie, and of course, since I live in Georgia, Peach Pie!
Like I said, “Who doesn’t love pie?”
After all, when the three little kittens lost their mittens, did their momma take their cupcakes away?
I think not!
