Yahoo headline on Friday:
Palin has tricky new foe in battle over ‘slur’!
Ok, we’re talking about the “R” word again.
And I’m not happy that Yahoo put slur in quotes. Like there’s a question about it.
It’s a slur. Stop it!
Yahoo claims Gov. Palin is on the caribou horns of a dilemma since her battle against the usage of the word “retard” bumped into her quest to hold on to her poularity with her conservative base.
The King of infotainment, Rush Limbaugh used the word in a recent broadcast when he said, “our political correct society is acting like some giant insult’s taken place by calling a bunch of people who are retards, retards.”
Ok, several things wrong with that sentence. It’s politically correct society, not political correct society, Rush, learn English, you want every one else to!
And it is a giant insult.
Of course, Tim Shriver chimmed in as well. He sent a statement to Rush, which is way too long for a blog, that esentially said it was “gratuitously hurtful and degrading.”
Sarah does have a problem. If she insults Rush, she takes the risk of offending people who love her.
Well, in my book, Rush is an ass and a bag of wind who’s in it for the money.
He, like Mr. Emanuel should appologize to everyone, individually. And they should serve detention together.
All this couldn’t have come at a better time for Tim and the Special Olympics Organization. They are gearing up for their second annual “Spread The Word to End The Word” campaign. Again, there’s a website!
There is more than one issue here.
It’s not just Sarah’s, if she rags on Rush, she risks her audience. Well, if you’re going to tell everyone else to do the right thing, then Sarah, you do the right thing.
Rush and Rahm – (Sounds like a great title for a sitcom!) – Stop it! What’s good for the goose is good for the fatter goose.
Tim – get a grip on reality and realize the online pledge isn’t going to make a bit of difference.
Vocabulary – when did the word retard start meaning “someone who doesn’t agree with me?” And when did adults who should know better start using it?
Everyone – stop using the word!
I promise, ya’ll stop using the R word, and I’ll stop blogging about it!
There is nothing tricky about it.
