Times are tough for some people.
But you can still have a wonderful evening on a budget.
Don’t want to get all dolled UP for Valentine’s Day?
Don’t want to spend a lot of cash on dinner?
Just plain don’t wanna go out?
Go ahead, make it a special night at home. Order out, get a movie, have a good time.
Here are some of my favorite “Love Story” movies.
Well, we’ll start with Love Story! Ali McGraw and Ryan O’Neal at their hottest! They might be 70 now, but back then they wer hotter than hot, and make Brad and Angelina look like the posers they are!
Notting Hill always makes me laugh and moves me too.
Casablanca, a classic. Play it again Sam.
Now Voyager – yeah, it’s old, in black and white, but c’mon, Bette Davis and Paul Henried – who’s better?
The Magic of Ordinary Days, is a real tear jerker and sure to get you laid will make you realize just how wonderful love is.
Titanic, yeah, it’s four hours long, but hey you’re not going anywhere.
Gone With The Wind – why not? It’s the 15 anniversary of the War Between The States, and Scarlett really did love Rhett, even if she couldn’t figure it out.
You’ve Got Mail is good-ish.
Legends of the Fall is awesome.
And Pearl Harbor will catch you UP on WWII history and make you do that “I’m not crying, my eye’s are just itchy.” thing you do so well.
Jezebel – again, Bette Davis, black and white, freakin’ A W E S O M E!
Rebecca, I finally got if for Christmas, and I love it every time I see it.
While You Were Sleeping – or just about anything with Sandra Bullock in it.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Audry Hepburn – wow!
From Here to Eternity – yowzah!
Zefferelli’s Romeo and Juliet. I’ve worn my VHS version out!
And probably the most moving – The Red Violin – so, it’s not a complete love story, but it’s a great movie and it has something for both of you.
And if they’re all out of everything else, well, there’s always Brokeback Mountian.
Either way, have a happy Valentine’s Day!
