This is a feeble attempt at Wordless Wednesday.
I just couldn’t do it.
“They don’t make ’em like they used to.”
Ever hear that?
And wish they did.
After all, they were beautiful.
1960 Chevrolet Impala
1957 Chrysler 300
1957 Ford Thunderbird
Probably my all time favorite! The 1959 Buick Electra!
1959 Cadillac El-Dorado
1956 Ford Victoria
1967 Chevy Chevelle Malibu
1964 Pontiac Grand Prix
And, in my opinion, the last Beautiful American Car ever made…
Yes, I had one.
Some may come close, but works of art are few and far between.
The new Malibu is pretty, Honda, Acura, Lexus, and BMW have some fantastic looking cars, and the Buick LaCrosse and 2010 Ford Taurus are near art, but nothing compares to the American Dream Cars of the past.
But only in looks.
Automobiles have gone UP in price along with everything else. Some of the increase comes from added safety features.
You know, Ralph Nader, Unsafe At Any Speed and all that.
But that’s a good thing.
So, asthetics aside, when I hear someone say, “They don’t make ’em like they used to.” I whisper a quiet, “Thank God!”
