Back in 539 BC, on October 17, King Cyrus the Great (as opposed to King Cyrus the Mediocre) marched into the City of Babylon (Now Baghdad) and liberated the Hebrew Children from 70 years of exile from their homeland and 70 years of slavery. He was the first important ruler to provide religious toleration (which is different from religious freedom).  He made the first official Human Rights Declaration known to man.

Now, that’s a way to start a weekend!

Happy Human Rights Day!
