Paul Revere of Paul Revere and the Raiders died over the weekend at his home in Idaho.
A Raider for more than 50 years, Revere was known as “the mad man of rock and roll” due to his high energy and Revolutionary War get UP.
I remember them on Bandstand and other music shows in the late 60s. Their music was fun, upbeat, and usually danceable.
Part of America’s response to the British Invasion, the Raiders scored several hits in the 60s and 70s, and continued to perform.
They had dates scheduled into 2015.
But, for the leader, the midnight ride is over.
And a little more of the music has died.
