Back in 1919, on January 15th, a large molasses tank burst and rushed through the streets of Boston at 35 mph!
That’s really not so slow.
It was a hot day for January in Boston, and the temperature reached 40 degrees!
The tank at the Purity Distilling Company split open and the sticky gooey liquid killed 21 people and injured another 150 as it rushed through the town.
The clean UP took over two weeks, and involved over 300 people!
So, then next time you say “slow as molasses”, ya might wanna rethink it.
