…time to get pissy!

As I strolled into the mall last Friday for my daily three mile walk, I was assaulted by Christmas Music.

It was 7:30 AM, November 1st, and I really wasn’t in the mood.

Let’s face it, I hadn’t even finished my trick or treat candy!

Seems the Christmas Spirit is starting early this year.

In the spirit of Bah Humbug, my favorite Christmas attitude, Hallmark comes out with an “Ugly Sweater” ornament which has pissed off, let’s see, THE WORLD!

Don we now are GAY apparel.

Notice the difference?

That’s right, we now don our FUN apparel, not out GAY apparel.

Hallmark, a privately owned company (I had no idea) based in Kansas City, Mo., tried to clear the air last Wednesday by issuing a statement.  The company’s spokesman said,  “When the lyrics to ‘Deck the Halls’ were translated from Gaelic and published in English back in the 1800s, the word ‘gay’ meant festive or merry. Today it has multiple meanings, which we thought could leave our intent open to misinterpretation.”

Were they dropped on their heads?

Everyone knows that the word GAY in the song means festive, happy, and fun.

It’s not an invite to dress in Christmas Drag!

I mean, after all, RuPaul’s already done that!

But, this isn’t the first time the lyrics to the song have been changed.  UP in Michigan in 2011, a middle school teacher changed the word gay to fun, and all the parents were UP in arms.  I’m sure if they’d left the lyrics stand, someone would have been offended by that as well.

But I say, “Leave Christmas alone!”

Gay, not gay, fun, not fun, it should be a happy time, and frankly, staying happy during the season is hard enough!
