It’s World Hepatitis Day.
Seriously, I’m not making that UP.
It’s not an official holiday, it’s actually an awareness day.
The date of July 28 was chosen in honor of Nobel Laureate Professor Baruch Samuel Blumberg, discover of the virus. July 28 is his birthday.
With over 350 million people worldwide infected with Hepatitis B, and 170 million with Hepatitis C, everyone should pay more attention!
The mantra of the day is “This is hepatitis…know it…confront it.”
Today is a day to focus on prevention, screening, and control of the viruses.
Be careful out there!
