I had many choices, but this is the winner.

As much as it pains me to bash a teacher, oh well, here goes.

Powell County

13-year-old Ashley Owens, a student at Powell County Middle School in Stanton, Kentucky, received the unusual punishment of carrying all the contents of her locker in her backpack for a week.

When the teacher confronted her math class was confronted about a missing name from the naughty list on the class room board.

Ashley told to her teacher that she accidentally erased a name from a chalkboard list of students who talked in class.  WLEX, the local TV station reports that the teacher then issued the principal approved heavy backpack punishment and taped the student’s locker shut.

Ashley’s parents, Stella and Jerry Owens, were concerned that their 50-pound daughter was being made to carry a bag that weighed more than 20 pounds.

Stella Owens told LEX 18 News, “I’m tired of it. I’m fed up with it. You know, I want something done and it better be resolved.”

The parents emailed Powell County Superintendent Mike Tate, who gave the pat answer that he would look into the case.

As of now, Ashley’s parents decided to take her out of school.

I don’t blame them!

This is child abuse, plain and simple.  It’s humiliation, and the Principal and teacher both win the coveted AOTW award.

Get a grip, people!
