Mad Magazine is 60!
Yes, the mag and I were born the same year.
I can’t imagine life without it. I wasted countless hours reading Mad Magazine as a kid. I’ll admit, I’ve not seen one in years, but I’ll also have to admit, I miss Spy v. Spy, Alfred E Neuman, and all the rest.
The brainchild of Harvey Kurtzman it featured satires and parodies of other magazines, even though it was started as a comic book. The little enterprise grew to 2,000,000 subscriptions in the 1970s.
Well, people were smoking a lot of weed!
Inane, silly, stoopid, and fun, it has kept people laughing for 60 years!
And it gave us a great tag line: “What, me worry?”
And why should we? We have humor after all.
I suppose I should pick one UP!
