Knowing full well that this could be the blogtroversy I’ve been avoiding, I must weigh in.

Much of the news coverage over the past few days has been on the unrest in the Middle East and Africa.  It is big news, needs to be covered, and we as Americans need to know what’s going on.

But much of the news is misinformation.

For instance, there were no fewer than 20 headlines on Yahoo and in the papers claiming that the riots, Embassy bashings, and demonstrations were due to the “Innocence of Muslims.”

Of course, that’s not the truth.  The attack on the US Embassy in Benghazi was planned, pre-meditated, and calculated. The attacks were not retaliation for the film, they were the results of a call for revenge from Al Qaeda for the US ordered death of a senior Libyan member of the terrorist organization.

We’re at war with Al Qaeda, remember…it was in the news.

The unspeakable acts committed upon Embassy staff and the murders of three US Embassy employees and our Ambassador, who was a big supporter of the new regime there, were nothing short of pre-meditated murder.

This isn’t about a tacky, poorly made film.  And, yes, I did watch all 13 excruciating minutes on the internet.

Poorly filmed, written, edited, and directed, the film is inflammatory, and was designed to be so.  People who support it and promote it are risking their lives and are foolish. It’s pathetic.  Amateurish films intended to incite are made all the time.  This one is just getting more press.  Every one is looking for a scapegoat, the film appears to be it.

And now we hear that the White House possibly had notice of the attack 48 hours before it happened, and yet, Cynthia McKinney hasn’t weighed in…hmmm.

But, the movie isn’t why we’re being attacked.  Nor is it why we’ve been attacked all along.

Sirhan Sirhan’s murder of Bobby Kennedy was more than likely the first Fanatical Islamic attack on the US. There have been plenty of others.

People in other parts of the world hate us because of our freedom, our military might, our wealth, and our religious beginnings.

Just look at the targets of 9-11.

Those nations aren’t free, they’re jealous.

Those nations aren’t as strong militarily, so they use terrorism and guerrilla tactics.

Those nations are poor, so they take foreign aid from us and shoot it back at us.

Those nations have no religious freedom, only religious bigotry, and they hate us for the fact that we can speak out and say what we think, knowing full well that the consequences aren’t always positive.

But, speak out we do, and speak out we must.

I know this is a little unusual for this site, I rarely do political or religious posts.

But, really folks, it’s not the movie that makes them hate us!
