…thank you Dionne Warwick!

As you may have heard, I’m a Waffle House fan.

It’s not like I spend an inordinate amount of time there, I just go there every day.

Over time, I’ve met some scary assed crazy people.  Some of them have even become my friends.

Meet Robert and BJ.

Robert and BJ @ the Waffle House

They’ve know each other longer than they’ve known me, and our main association is over breakfast.

Both men are business men in Suwanee with successful businesses;  hard working, dads, good guys, and like myself, car people.

BJ has a few, Robert has a few more.

Like I said UP there, they are both dads.

Robert’s children, both adults, have been harassing the bejesus out of him encouraging him to get a physical.

He’s “over” 50, and recently informed us and them, that he’d not seen a doctor in 24 years!

That’s right, not 24 hours, but 24 years!

Now, I don’t know if this omission is a fear physicians, the fickle finger of fate, or latex, but 24 years is 24 years, and I’m sure a lot of stuff’s going on in there! We advised him to call for a check UP.

So, UPon telling BJ and I all this at the aforementioned Waffle House, and the two of us reading him the riot act encouraging him to call the doctore,  BJ came UP with a plan.

Unbeknownst to Robert of course.

A few days later, Robert’s phone rang, and it was a Doctor’s office.  They were calling to advise him of his appointment for a physical.

A very surprised Robert, who’d had a lost weekend or two in the past, was quite sure he’d not made a call for an appointment, and said so.

The Medical Assistant on the other end of the line said, “Oh, we know, we’re just calling to get preliminary information, your friend BJ called and set this UP! You need to be there on Thursday.”

Now, that’s what friends are for!
