One hundred years ago today, the RMS Titanic struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic, flooding four of its 16 watertight compartments.
It sank in the early hours of April 15, taking with it 68% of the passengers and crew on board.

1514 lives lost in a few hours.

I saw an interesting show on PBS Thurs. nite about the Titanic which focused on the people involved…designers, crew, passengers, survivors, etc. Narrated by Len Goodman of DWTS. Perhaps can be seen online. I really liked it!
