I still have a teeny-weeny bit of student loan left, which seems silly as I am a stay-at-home mom and have no JOB, but of course I do not regret my education one bit! The problem with 18 and 19 year olds going into debt for their education is that most have no idea what it really means and how it will impact their future! $10,000 and $100,000 is pretty much all the same to them (at least it was to me at that age and state of naivete.)

Hmm… I’m so debating going back to school for my MBA just so I can defer student loans another time. Out of sight, out of mind, right?

Years ago the National Challenge in the “Parade” asked what question should be a college enterance exam. My entry was “Do you have the money?” Do not remember if it won or not, but we had two in college at that time and did not have all the money. It took a home equity loan to get through 11 years of college. We made it. No regrets. One just does what is necessary to achieve desired goals, although there are some limits.

As I owe over $100,000, I am feeling the pain. If I wasn’t getting my new practice to pay off my debt, my student loan payment would be more than my house payment. Seems wrong to me.
