Fashion Friday…the subject is jeans!
Posted by PaulOct 16
Every once in a while at school, our Principal (who is AWESOME!!) allows us to wear jeans. It’s a treat!
You would think Taylor Swift was coming to town.
It’s like a holiday!
People really get excited.
And so do I!
Frankly, I’d wear jeans every day, and I think most guys would, but some of them, well, they just need some help with this.
Most guys think they look like this in jeans…

…but, we don’t!
Usually, it’s more like this.

…and it’s just not pretty!
So guys, there are some rules.
THE TWELVE COMMANDMENTS OF JEANS
(It’s in the Bible, keep looking.)
You must follow, you must obey, you must comply.
1. Thou shalt not buy crap.
2. Thou shalt buy for comfort, but thou shalt not forget style.
3. Thou shalt buy for your age. Find a style that fits you and stick with it.
4. Thou shalt not buy crap.
5. Thou shalt let your wife/spouse/significant other/partner/girlfriend/both/all of the above, etc. shop for your jeans with you. LISTEN TO HER! She will tell you the truth as she has to be seen with you in public. And really, she does not want to be ashamed of her ‘manchoice’.
6. Thou shalt make sure they fit…EVERYWHERE!
7. Thou shalt wash them before you wear them, and thou shalt let them hang dry the first time.
8. Thou shalt not buy crap.
9. Thou shalt wear them several times before washing them again. (Really, this is important, you can wear them until they stand up and walk away by themselves before you wash them, they adapt to your body better and hold your shape…which is what it’s all about.)
10. Thou shalt take them to the cleaners rather than wash them…they will always fit the same if you do.
11. Thou shalt hem them if they need it.
oh yes, most importantly,
12. Thou shalt not buy crap.
You, and your family, want to be proud of what’s behind you!

Uh . . . . no.
I buy them for $10.00 or less. It would cost more to clean them twice.

I’m a Purist…Levi’s! (for casual wear.) But I do have others for “dressier” occasions, Land’s End, DKNY, PacSun, Oscar’s…I have a lot of jeans!

I find it hard to believe there is more than a handful of men who would take their jeans to the cleaners! Does Dryel count? Ha.

Dyrel is good as long as you press them! This dry cleaning thing is for “good” jeans only!!

Had a chance to stop in and it was well worth it. Fashion Friday truly made me laugh out loud. Can’t wait for more. Jaime

I’ve owned one “elite” pair of jeans in my life. They were heavy, really! 7 to 8 pounds. I sware. I was somewhere in my 30’s. They were given to me, by as Niece Jenny calls him, UP. He had better taste than I, even then. I believe they were hand-me-downs from his roommate at OSU. I literally washed them on delicate. I literally wore them for years!!! Until it was tacky to continue to do so. Not wanting for others to think “Should you be wearing that?” I did the respectful thing. I donated them. I’d be willing to bet there’s a pair of Gloria V’s on some swelt body somewhere today that are totally in style!!! I’m sick enough to still be jealous of the thought.
Thanks for trying to put a little style in your dear sister’s life.

Just recently I became acquainted with at least one of the aforesaid commandments –No. 5, in this case. My lovely wife purchased me a pair of jeans because as she says, she is quite tired of my too loose, too short jeans. I must admit they do fit better in several areas (see Commandment No. 6). As I stumbled upon this fashion blog offering, I reflected on my wife’s purchase. I read her the entire 12 Commandments — to which she agreed with nearly all listed. UP got it right!
